The Project

For over 100 years sugar cane has been successfully grown on the Sunshine Coast. Then in 2003 the mill closed forcing growers to seek another market for the cane.

Hence "CowCandy" - whole sugar cane dried and baled to form a premium animal fodder which can be transported and stored.

BioCane Limited is constructing a full commercial plant to commence operations in the second half of 2009 to process the entire Sunshine Coast sugar cane crop.

We have proved it works with a pilot plant and then a trial plant and we have exported trial containers of product to Korea and Japan.

The Company is owned by growers, the Board and investors.

The Product

CowCandy has significant advantages over competing fodder products –

• Highest water soluble carbohydrate (WSC) content in dried fodder which –

Is quick acting leading to high levels of metabolised energy (ME)

Improves milk quality

Has a pleasant aroma attracts animals

Is highly palatable

• Effective fibre – persistence of rind and vascular fibre stimulation of the rumen is a virtue where fibre is more costly than protein

• Traceable back into the field

• Clean (low ash), and free of toxins animal or insect contamination and mycotoxins

• Packaged and processed for trouble free mixing with other ingredients in TMR machinery
