Cow Candy is a novel animal fodder product made entirely from sugar cane. The manufacturing process uses a new superheated steam drying “no waste” technology invented in Queensland to dry and bale the entire cane crop into a “bundle of energy” for dairy and beef cattle.
Cow Candy is creating a new export industry for Queensland’s Sunshine Coast. Bales of this unique premium fodder are already being locally produced at our Nambour pilot plant, and exported to Korea and Japan for use as part of a total mixed ration for dairy and beef cattle.
BioCane Ltd ACN 009 950 207 had won a Federal government grant to build an expanded processing plant . Out total committed grants from all three levels of Government have now all been received with thanks.
Sugarcane has been grown sucessfully on the Sunshine Coast for over 100 years. Climatic conditions are ideal and the cost of production is relatively low as irrigation is generally not necessary. Unfortunately there is no longer a mill to crush the cane for sugar and cash flow has dried up for the growers.
Biocane has emerged as the probable saviour of the cane growing industry - with an alternative value added product to sugar - CowCandy.
